Why Rockin Roan?
The yard that Rockin Roan now calls home was the location of their family-owned business that was a staple in the Amherst community for three generations.
On the property of Vaughn Melanson Trucking and Excavating was, and remains, the family barn cleverly called Rock ‘N’ Horse Ranch. When the longstanding excavation business closed its doors only a few short months before the new tack business opening, it felt suited to keep the foundation of the property and past business in the name of the shop. They didn't have to search far when choosing something to go with Rockin.
Rock ‘N’ Horse Ranch is the home to some beautiful cow horses, many of which just happen to be a favorite color in the barn, roan. Over the years, our barn has seen every variation of the roan color grace its stalls, and with a bit of reflection, Rockin Roan felt like the perfect fit.
Why We Started
As a family who has been in the equestrian community in a number of capacities over the last 30+ years, they were presented with an opportunity they could not pass up when they purchased Lil Red Barn’s Tack.
Nikki and Mike have worked with hundreds of riders from a range of disciplines throughout the maritime provinces and felt it was a wonderful way to continue to serve their equestrian community and build a family business with Kaelyn and Joel, Nikki’s younger sister and her fiance.
Their shared passion for horses and all things western, along with their strong desire to make a positive impact on their local horse community is what drives them to put their whole heart into servicing their customers at Rockin Roan to the best of their ability.
